Hangover Cure
Happy New Year!
As the festive season seems a distant memory already, we crash back to reality - sometimes with a bump. Back to work, routine and rules. Bills for Christmas extravagance need to be paid. And as the cost registers, so the cheery atmosphere gradually disappears and short tempers return.
For some folk, January is the ultimate hangover.
Why do we invest so much in those few festive days of a year? With church numbers at the rate they are, it’s really not about religion. For the majority it’s a last party of the year to spend time with those we love, celebrating the end of something and the beginning of something new.
But we can do that every day.
-
Awaken to each day as a new adventure, with the mindset that *anything* can happen that day. Because that is true.
-
Think about what you’d like to happen that day (and do that thinking with good intent).
-
Throughout the day - smile. You get back what you put out. People generally respond to a smile with a smile.
-
Disappointments; do not let them land on you – they affect you only as much as you attach yourself to them.
-
At the end of each day, reflect. And be thankful for things have that happened that you are grateful for – even the small ones. There is *always* someone worse off than you.
Just a few tips that help improve the experience of being human. They really work. Try them out. Experiment!
Wishing everyone a good 2012. One where they learn to use their minds properly. Because that leads to true happiness.
Even on dark days.
